Indoor Drone: FPV Flights in Halls, Museums and Factories

VR-Copter flies where no crane or dolly can go: through museums, production halls, festival tents and showrooms. With FPV drones for flowing fly-throughs, small drones under 250 grams for flights close to people and exhibits, and a safety concept the venue approves in advance.

What an indoor drone can do

  • One continuous fly-through: the camera flies through doors, under ceilings and between exhibits – a shot that feels like a oner.
  • Explain a space: show the size, layout and workflow of a hall or factory in seconds.
  • Get close: small FPV drones fly right up to cars, machines and stages.
  • Smooth moves: for calm indoor moves we use stabilised camera drones, as in the image film for Casino Baden-Baden.

Indoor projects by VR-Copter

Porsche Museum Stuttgart – FPV tour “30,000 Horsepower”

In 2020 we flew FPV and Mavic through the Porsche Museum exhibition; the film was picked up by CarBuzz, DriveTribe and UAS Vision. In 2026 we flew the museum again, with DJI Avata 2 inside and Mavic outside. Porsche Museum project

Casino Baden-Baden – image film

Smooth indoor aerials through the historic halls for the casino’s image film, shot with DJI Inspire 2 and X5S in 4K. Casino Baden-Baden project

Cannstatter Wasen – festival tent during sound and light check

A flight through the Dinkelacker tent of Klauss & Klauss between lamps, cables and stage, with DJI Mavic 2 Pro in 4K. Cannstatter Wasen project

Permits and safety for indoor flights

Inside closed buildings, aviation law usually does not apply – the venue’s house rules do, so the operator decides. We agree flight path, times, closed-off areas and proof of insurance with them in advance. Over uninvolved people we only fly drones under 250 grams, by clear arrangement. Exhibits, vehicles and equipment are protected with a spotter and pre-defined lines.

What an indoor drone shoot costs

A shoot day with a drone team starts at €1,300 net, with Inspire 3 and cinema setup at €2,400 net, and as a combination of drone, FPV and car-to-car at €3,900 net – each including pilot, equipment, insurance and permit coordination. For museums and factories we usually plan a test flight or site visit beforehand – it saves time on the shoot day.

Frequently asked questions

Can you fly a drone in halls and museums?

Inside closed buildings the operator usually decides under their house rules. We obtain their approval, present a safety concept and provide proof of insurance.

Which drone is best for indoor shots?

For dynamic fly-throughs a small FPV drone such as the DJI Avata 2; for calm moves a stabilised camera drone. The choice depends on ceiling height, tight spots and the desired look.

Can you shoot while the venue is open?

Yes, by arrangement. We usually fly before opening, during breaks or in closed-off areas, and use drones under 250 grams over uninvolved people.

Is an FPV fly-through really one take?

Often it is stitched from several takes, as with the Porsche Museum in 2020. That keeps each section safe and plannable while the result still looks like one flight.

What does an indoor drone flight cost?

From €1,300 net per shoot day with a drone team, including pilot, equipment, insurance and coordination with the venue.
