FPV Drone: Chase Flights and Fly-Throughs for Automotive and Film
An FPV drone flies like a camera without limits: tight to the car through corners, through doors and halls, over crests and ice. VR-Copter has used FPV in automotive productions since 2016 – from small drones for indoor flights to the Cinelifter with RED camera for cinema-grade images.
When an FPV drone is the right camera
- Chasing the car: speed and dynamics a cinema drone cannot show from a safe distance.
- Fly-throughs: museums, factory halls and showrooms in one move – more on indoor drones.
- Cinema quality: Cinelifter with RED Komodo when FPV shots have to hold up in commercials and cinema.
- Social media: small FPV drones such as the DJI Avata 2 for fast, safe clips and reels.

Safety in FPV flight
FPV pilots fly with goggles. That is why we work with a spotter who watches airspace and surroundings, with pre-defined lines and clear arrangements with drivers and track management. On race tracks we fly with the operator’s approval, in halls with the approval of the venue. We handle insurance and permits.
What an FPV drone shoot costs
A shoot day with a drone team starts at €1,300 net, with Inspire 3 and cinema setup at €2,900 net, and as a combination of drone, FPV and car-to-car at €3,900 net – each including pilot, equipment, insurance and permit coordination.
Frequently asked questions
What is an FPV drone?
FPV stands for first person view: the pilot flies with goggles from the camera’s perspective. This allows fast, tight and flowing flights that a classic camera drone cannot do.
Can an FPV drone chase a moving car?
Yes, with planning: pre-defined lines, briefing with the driver and a spotter. For very high speeds we combine FPV with car-to-car from the camera car.
Which camera flies on the FPV drone?
Depending on the job a GoPro, the built-in camera of the DJI Avata 2, or on the Cinelifter a RED Komodo for cinema-grade images.
Does an FPV flight need a spotter?
Yes. Because the pilot flies with goggles, a spotter watches airspace and surroundings. That is standard for us.
What does an FPV drone shoot cost?
From €1,300 net per shoot day with a drone team, from €3,900 net as a drone, FPV and car-to-car combination – including pilot, equipment, insurance and permit coordination.
