Drone Live Broadcast: Live Aerial Feed for Gallery, Stream and Big Screen
A drone can do more than record: its image goes live to the gallery, the OB van, the stream or straight onto the big screen. VR-Copter delivers the signal via HDMI or SDI and flies lines that fit the show – most recently with six aircraft for the livestream of the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV world premiere at the 140th anniversary of Mercedes-Benz.
What a live aerial feed is for
- Big screen at events: guests see track, cars and venue from the air as it happens.
- Livestream and broadcast: the drone as an extra camera in the gallery’s vision mixer.
- Presentations and driving demos: show cars in motion live instead of playing a film.
- Recording included: alongside the live signal the drone records in high quality for aftermovie and social media.
How we get the drone image into your gallery
The image travels by radio from the drone to the pilot’s remote and is handed over via HDMI or SDI to your equipment – vision mixer, OB van, streaming encoder or media server. Signal path, cable lengths, format and frame rate are agreed with your technical team in advance. On show day there is a signal test and a fixed comms line between gallery and pilot, so the drone is on air exactly when the director needs it.
Safety and permits
Live does not mean improvised: flight paths, take-off spots and closed-off areas are fixed before the show. We do not fly over audiences without the appropriate permit. We handle venue or track approvals, permits for geographical zones and proof of insurance.

Frequently asked questions
Can the drone image be broadcast live?
Yes. The image goes via HDMI or SDI straight to gallery, OB van, stream or big screen. Signal path and format are agreed with your technical team in advance.
How much latency does the live feed have?
The radio link adds a small delay. For big screen and stream this is usually not critical; when mixing with other cameras we account for it in the signal test.
Is the footage recorded at the same time?
Yes. The drone records in high quality alongside the live signal, so you have footage for aftermovie and social media.
Can the drone fly over the audience at a live event?
Only within narrow limits. We plan flight paths beside the audience and clarify in advance which permits the venue requires.
What does a drone with live feed cost?
From €1,300 net per shoot day with a drone team. Equipment for the signal path and a rehearsal are quoted per project.
