Equipment Rental: DL Lenses, Monitoring and Drones with Pilot
VR-Copter rents out selected equipment from its own inventory – above all DL lenses for the DJI Inspire 3 and Ronin 4D that rental houses rarely carry: the Laowa 9 mm and the Laowa 11 mm. Plus production monitor and video receiver for the video village. Drones only come with a pilot.
DL lens rental
All DL lenses fit the Zenmuse X9 on the Inspire 3 and the Ronin 4D. Rent several lenses and you get the set price.

Laowa 9 mm and 11 mm DL – why they are in demand
Both Laowas are rectilinear ultra-wide lenses with DL mount: extreme perspectives without fisheye curvature – on the Inspire 3 in the air and on the Ronin 4D on the ground. The 11 mm covers the full full-frame sensor of the Zenmuse X9, while the 9 mm f/2.8 Zero-D is designed for S35 and almost distortion-free. DL wide angles like these are rare at rental houses, so book early with your shoot date.
The Laowa lenses in detail
Specifications according to the manufacturer Venus Optics (Laowa), plus our tips from everyday shooting.
Laowa 9 mm f/2.8 Zero-D (DL)
Compact ultra-wide with close to zero distortion (Zero-D): straight lines stay straight – ideal for architecture, interiors and vehicles from above. At f/2.8 it also works at dusk.

| Format | APS-C / S35 and MFT |
|---|---|
| Angle of view | 113° (APS-C / S35), 100° (MFT) |
| Aperture | f/2.8 |
| Construction | 15 elements in 10 groups |
| Aperture blades | 7 |
| Minimum focus | 12 cm |
| Filter thread | 49 mm |
| Weight | 215 g |
| Mount | DJI DL |
| Focus | manual |
Tips from the set:
- Not a full-frame lens: shoot in S35 mode on the Zenmuse X9, otherwise the image vignettes
- Set focus and aperture before take-off – the lens is fully manual
- 49 mm thread: screw ND filters on directly, no filter holder needed

Laowa 11 mm f/4.5 FF RL (DL)
Rectilinear full-frame wide angle: uses the entire Zenmuse X9 sensor without crop and delivers extreme perspectives without fisheye curvature. Light enough for the Inspire 3 and the Ronin 4D.

| Format | full frame |
|---|---|
| Angle of view | 126° |
| Aperture | f/4.5–f/22 |
| Construction | 14 elements in 10 groups |
| Aperture blades | 5 |
| Minimum focus | 19 cm |
| Filter thread | 62 mm |
| Weight | approx. 206 g (DL version) |
| Mount | DJI DL |
| Focus | manual |
Tips from the set:
- Full 8K of the X9-8K Air without crop
- 5 aperture blades produce 10-point sunstars when stopped down
- 62 mm thread: screw ND filters on directly – saves weight on the drone

Laowa 7.5 mm f/2 MFT Lightweight
According to the manufacturer the widest rectilinear f/2 lens for Micro Four Thirds. At 150 g, the Lightweight version is built specifically for drones and gimbals – for example on the Blackmagic Pocket 4K.

|---|---|
| Angle of view | 110° (≈ 15 mm FF equiv.) |
| Aperture | f/2 |
| Construction | 13 elements in 9 groups |
| Aperture blades | 7 |
| Minimum focus | 12 cm |
| Filter thread | 46 mm |
| Weight | 150 g |
| Mount | MFT |
| Focus | manual |
Tips from the set:
- No electronic connection to drone or gimbal: set aperture and focus before the flight

- At f/4 to f/5.6 the depth of field is so deep that almost everything from close range to infinity is sharp
