Drone Filming at Hockenheimring: Porsche Taycan “E-Warm-Up” with Drone and Car-to-Car

For the Porsche Track Experience at Hockenheimring, VR-Copter flew the aerial shots of the “E-Warm-Up” – the training exclusively for the Taycan – and delivered the tracking shots from the car-to-car rig at the same time. The agency was Grabarz & Partner, production by Vidture.

  • Project: Porsche Track Experience “E-Warm-Up” (day 1 of 2)
  • Client / production: Porsche / Grabarz & Partner / Vidture
  • Services: Aerial filming, car-to-car

Brief and execution

The Track Experience ran over two days: the Taycan in the E-Warm-Up on day one, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport on day two. The principle was the same for both – drone for the track and the overview, car-to-car rig for closeness to the car. One crew delivered the complete footage for the event film.

Flights only took place in fixed drone windows set in the media schedule, coordinated with race control and the instructors. Between the windows the crew switched to the camera car.

Equipment and permits

DJI Inspire 2 with Zenmuse X7 in 6K for the aerials, car-to-car rig with gimbal for the tracking shots (more on car-to-car at jrjr.film).

Flight operations with the circuit operator’s clearance for the Porsche Experience Center grounds, proof of insurance and a general permit from the Stuttgart regional authority.

FAQ

Can you fly a drone at Hockenheimring?

Yes, with the circuit operator’s clearance and the right permit. VR-Copter coordinates with race control and the authorities.

Yes. With fixed drone windows in the schedule, the same crew switches between the air and the camera car – one supplier instead of two.

How much does a drone operator cost at Hockenheimring?

A shoot day with a drone crew starts at €1,300 net, with Inspire 3 and cinema setup from €2,900 net, and as a combined drone, FPV and car-to-car package from €3,900 net – each including pilot, equipment, insurance and permit coordination.
