Drone Filming Denmark: Mercedes-EQE

For the launch of the Mercedes-EQE, VR-Copter filmed on the Danish coast – in Klitmøller, at Feggesund and on Funen. Drone and car-to-car with U-Crane came from one source, in collaboration with schwäble + wolf (today Wolf Film Production). The biggest challenge: the wind.

Brief and execution

The EQE was to be shown in landscapes that suit an electric car: coast, dunes, open roads. The drone delivered the big pictures – car and landscape in one move – while the U-Crane delivered the dynamic tracking shots close to the car.

On the Danish west coast it is almost always windy, and on the shoot days it was extreme. For the drone that means planning flight positions precisely, keeping reserves and choosing angles where the image stays steady despite the gusts.

Equipment and permits

DJI Inspire 2 with Zenmuse X7 for the aerials, car-to-car with U-Crane for the tracking shots (more on car-to-car at jrjr.film).

Drone pilot and camera: Jochen Riehm. Shooting abroad means checking local rules and clarifying insurance and permits in advance.

FAQ

Can you film with a drone in strong wind?

Up to a certain limit, yes – with a wind-stable drone, reserves in battery and altitude and well-chosen positions. The pilot decides, depending on wind and weather, whether to fly.

Does VR-Copter also deliver car-to-car abroad?

Yes. Drone and car-to-car come from the same team, abroad too – Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Spain and more.

What does a drone and car-to-car shoot abroad cost?

A shoot day with a drone crew starts at €1,300 net, with Inspire 3 and cinema setup from €2,400 net, and as a combined drone, FPV and car-to-car package from €3,900 net – each including pilot, equipment, insurance and permit coordination.
