Drone Filming in Tuscany: Hotel Film for Podere Castello

For the hotel Podere Castello in southern Tuscany, VR-Copter shot a hotel film from the air – a former monastery between Monte Amiata and the coast, with a view across the Maremma to the sea. Shot in 2016 with Inspire 1 and Zenmuse X3 in 4K.

Brief and execution

A hotel sells location and atmosphere. The drone shows both in one image: the estate, the drive through the hills, the gardens and the view across the Maremma that lets guests arrive before they have even booked.

It was shot in autumn, when the light in Tuscany is low and warm. Short flights in the morning and evening were enough for the key images.

Equipment and permits

DJI Inspire 1 with Zenmuse X3, 4K.

Pilot and camera: Jochen Riehm.

FAQ

Are drone shots worth it for hotels and resorts?

Yes. Aerials show the location, surroundings and size of a property at a glance – exactly what guests want to know before booking. The images work on the website, on booking platforms and on social media.

Can you film with a drone in Italy?

Yes, with registration on the Italian d-flight portal, insurance and the right EU category. Restrictions apply around airports, in protected areas and over crowds.

What does a drone film for a hotel cost?

A shoot day with a drone crew starts at €1,300 net, with Inspire 3 and cinema setup from €2,400 net, and as a combined drone, FPV and car-to-car package from €3,900 net – each including pilot, equipment, insurance and permit coordination.
